With fall upon us and winter falling close behind now is
the perfect time to check out what downtown La Grange can offer. So, visit and enjoy these local
places to discover your new favorite hangout or experience before we all coop up
for winter.
Entertainment
When its time to just sit back and relax with a big bag of
popcorn there are two great options both within minutes of Uptown La Grange
Apartments. If you want to be surrounded not just by sound but history as well
you must check out La Grange Theatre,
originally built in 1925 this theatre combines classic looks with modern-day
technology for a creative movie watching experience. However, if you are more of
the latest and greatest type of person you can also check out AMC
Quarry Cinemas 14, which features an IMAX screen and with reserved seating
which means you’ll get to experience the newest movies on the biggest screen
without having to wonder if you are going to end up in the front row looking up
at the ceiling.
When it comes time for you to get up, get out, and do
something that gets your heart rate up the local park district has you covered.
The La Grange Park District offers sports leagues
that allow for all levels of play so whether you want to relive your glory
days, still dream of going pro, or just want to meet some new people and have
some fun the park district features leagues for Softball, Basketball, and Volleyball.
The leagues feature men’s, women’s and COED divisions and even if you can’t get
your friends to stop watching Netflix and play you can still sign up as an
individual.
Food
Whether you don’t feel like going down to our demonstration
kitchen and showing off those ninja knife skills or you just don’t have the energy
to open that Blue Apron box that arrived after forgetting to cancel the subscription
again downtown La Grange has you covered. There are loads of great dining
options that are just a short walk, bike ride or rideshare away from Uptown La
Grange. One option is Barrel House Social,
it’s also an Uptown staff favorite, the restaurant features great food, a bar,
and even a patio area to enjoy those last couple of weeks of nice weather.
Another great option is Prasino which has
you covered from breakfast through dinner all in an eco-friendly and sustainability-focused
restaurant. For those who like to explore and try new things is Skadarliya, which is just outside of La
Grange offers those looking to change things up the opportunity to try out
Serbian-Macedonian cuisine. Lastly, we all have that moment when we realize
that no one can stop us from having dessert before dinner and when that moment
hits be sure to check out and chill out with some ice cream from TATES Old Fashioned Ice Cream.
